Welcome to the Wednesday’s Life Intelligence. Today, we begin the 30-Day Journaling Challenge. Every day for 30 days, paid subscribers will receive a prompt for reflection on life with the intention of boosting gratitude just before the holidays. Gratitude is your buffer against stress and family drama that always sneak in when you least want them to. We all have reasons to be grateful, although we usually overlook them.
Perhaps life is too good to notice all the goodness. Perhaps our brains, predisposed to negativity bias for survival reasons, keep looking for things to complain about instead of counting blessings. Perhaps we just fall into a rut, a daily rhythm of responsibilities and distractions from them.
Whatever the reason for not living intentionally and with gratitude, it ENDS NOW!
Do this 30-Day Journaling Challenge and feel the difference. It’s for paid subscribers only, but you can easily become one for a month and quit after if you don’t want to support my work with Life Intelligence. It’s only $8/month.
Here’s what you need:
A notebook just for these prompts. This way, you can always go back and read what you wrote.
Your favorite pen, because the computer is not “somatic” enough. Writing by hand does a lot for hand-to-eye coordination and for actual expression through your body. Plus, you can doodle, sketch, and turn your journal into a creative outlet and work of art for your soul.
Dedicated time – like meditation, pick a time you can reliably have a daily date with yourself for about 20 – 30 min to journal.
Nice music, the company of your dog, a cup of hot chocolate, and anything else that sets the mood for you.
Enjoy the process.
I’ll post the prompts in Chats for paid subscribers only, so if you want to share your thoughts and insights, we can have our own little fireside. I’ll post the links in the prompts. But if you prefer a more solitary affair, by all means, have it your way!
And without further ado, here’s today’s prompt and inspiration from my favorite fantasy writer, Neil Gaiman, and the Sandman series. Here's a fun fact: When I lived in Hawaii, I got into Sandman, so much so that I saved my pennies to buy the special edition comic books comprising multiple comic strips into a theme. Special artwork and all. Believe me when I tell you I shipped these 13 books to Bulgaria! Yes, they are now collectible. But, no, I didn’t ship them because of their worth. I shipped them because they are priceless to me.
Every now and then, usually during a life transition or a particularly intense introspection period, I crack them open and read parts of them, probably the way Christians look for answers in the Bible. There’s a HUGE reason why Neil Gaiman is considered one of today’s most profound, creative writers.
You might have thought I’d be pulling inspiration from some lofty yoga philosophy scripts, but instead, you get comic book stuff. Roll with it. It will be worth it, I promise.
