Challenges abound. While some people look for challenges to spice up their lives, most hate bumps on the road, wrong turns, and trying to find their way in the fog of confusion and ignorance that inevitably surrounds a calamity they didn't ask for.
If you're lucky, those unfortunate events are mostly of your own making because who else can screw up your life better than you? But as much as we dread these moments of facepalming realization, they often shape us, build character, and give us something to talk about at dinner parties. We could even spin them into tales of triumph—if we look back, squinting hard enough.
So, how do we turn our blunders into badges of honor? More importantly, how do we squeeze lessons and some humor out of situations that feel unfair and unpleasant when we find ourselves knee-deep in some mess we don't want in the first place?
