Who's going to win the battle for government control?

What is happening, America? Part of me is grateful not to be there right now, but part of me is seriously worried because I am an American citizen due to return in March. Granted, I don't plan on staying more than a few months, but I still pay taxes, vote, and bank in the US. So, while my travels afford me an opportunity for distraction, I have a problem with the drama currently unfolding.

The skeptic in me wonders how much of what's going on is overblown by the media. At the same time, if I try to game out the different outcomes from the current situation, I come up short on enthusiasm.
