Late Fragment, what a great poem! Also, kudos for mentioning the urge to grow, and a dedication to the discomfort of growth, as a potential purpose unto itself :)
I never really thought of purpose as a unicorn with a purple mane. Evidently, and I don’t doubt this for a moment, your sense of purpose is at variance with mine.
Come to think of it now, I never really considered purpose. I was always too busy. 64” tvs, do they make those? Somewhere I have a tv, not sure where, but it was my father’s so now it’s mine. Never plugged it in. What would be the purpose?
Each day, I get up either with the sun or with the alarm buzz. I stretch, remind self what day it is and what my internal calendar says is important about the day. Then, I get up, get it together, check my white board calendar and go about the day's blessedness-or through its mayhem. Usually, there's a bit of both.
My purpose is to make the world just a bit better, each day, than it was before I woke. Most days, I can look back and say, there is this small tidbit along those lines: Emily Dickinson's saved robin or the starfish on the beach which got thrown back into the ocean.
Exploring my values led me to significant self-awareness and later, purpose. Great post.
