Interestingly, I have found that it is better if I trust more on my gut. With big decisions what I usually do is analyse it from every angle, list pros and cons, etc., only to come to the same conclusion that I had already intuitively come to much earlier. So a few years ago I made the conscious decision to be quicker to trust my gut and follow my feelings.

This usually work for things people are experts on. Years of experience amount to an ability to make correct decisions. But for things like relationships, assessing other people, and estimating things outside one's area of expertise, Big Data shows that most people get things wrong. Our unconscious biases and predispositions stemming from childhood conditioning get in the way. Just something to be mindful about when it comes to big decisions. "Measure twice, cut once."

Interesting, yes what I was referring to is applicable to life decisions I was making, like with a job for example, in which case I would be sort of an expert since it's about my life and what I want.

I'm not sure if I read it on your substack or somewhere else, but I found it quite astonishing how job applications can get determined through unconscious biases, so I was definitely not advocating for completely letting go of the whole thought / reflective process (I haven't either). But I think when it comes to your own life and what you feel is important, that your gut can play an essential, constructive role.

Good on you for doing the scientific research thing. I will give what I can, when I can, being a self-supporting soul also. Will be going back to this piece, and its links, several times, in order to get the max from what you have written. Rest assured, I am fastidious to the point of being a ninny, about trash and recycling. None of my stuff finds its way to the side of the road.
