Did I ever have a bad case of APD, when I was younger-not wanting to talk on the phone, knocking on a door and then walking away ("If they see it's me, they'll frown" and other nonsense.)! Mother was a recluse, of sorts, balanced to some extent by my more gregarious father. They actually had a good marriage, as she pulled herself together for social events and besides, there were the five of us who needed her on a daily basis. So, I guess I got it from her, and married someone who was a bit on the avoidant side, though we hosted gatherings and pulled each other out of the avoidance trap, over the years. Since I have been on my own, these past eleven years, AVD seems to have faded and I mix with people much more easily.
