you picked a provocative subject, I do think the pandemic made folks anonymous, and thereby rude folks became ruder and nasty, can't count the times I was told I was stupid to be wearing a mask, by a complete stranger. Some folks are rude and entitled, they can block the road to go to Farmers Mkt. cut in front of the line because they are special, you were lucky the person didn't know the right of way., I have seen people just blow through a stop sign. In my head I ask are they stupid or entitled then in my head I call them a name, since they share our planet your suggestions are good ones...because it is not going to change anytime soon
I, quite recently, lost my cool on a social media platform when I was accused of being a racist and discriminatory, when in actuality I was defending the race in question. I’ve known the particular person to be over reactive online and took the bait anyway. Part frustration and part feeling the need to defend myself. I know that arguing on the internet is a lost cause and a waste of time but I did it anyway. I wasn’t mean or rude but did tell this person that I was offended and disgusted by her comment in regards to me. Shame on her. I didn’t even feel better after scolding her. I knew it would fall on deaf ears because she had already made up her mind about me. We live in a small community and I do care about how people perceive me and how they view me morally and ethically. Since the scuffle I haven’t been back to check the comments in the thread and I deleted the app. NextDoor is a comparable to looking deep into the abyss and I want no part of the posturing and negativity. Hopefully, with everyone’s short attention span they will have already moved on to newer and more interesting drama.
I have either blocked and deleted them, smirked and walked away or retorted in a way that made the person think, hard. The rudest of the rude have been summarily thrown out of my life-permanently. It took a long time for me to think enough of myself to not be a punching bag, but here I am.
Thank you, excellent guidance. I think maybe people are rude because someone else was rude to them, and on and on the cycle continues. Too bad, though, because nice and funny humans are awesome.

What a bummer. And, yes, short attention span. Thanks for sharing.

Bad behavior is contagious. But so is kindness. Thank you for reading.
